The Green Minute: My Waterway

Information is power, and through the  Environmental Protection Agency’s “My Waterway” website, you can learn important information about the health of a local lake, stream, river and waterway from the EPA database of State water quality monitoring reports provided under the Clean Water Act.

Just click the Choose a Location button on the My Waterway website.

Within my own zip code, I found out that my local nearby creek (Shades Creek), was “impaired for fishing and recreation. I also learned about state and local plans to help cleanup and reduce the pollution in the area.

A good resourceful “tool”, a visit to the “My Waterway” website is invaluable and well worth taking The Green Minute to learn about your local waters and how to advocate for their protection.
