The Environmental Media Association (EMA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the entertainment industry more sustainable, releases a daily Green Tip of the Day.
In one short sentence, the group gives their members and eco-friendly consumers something to think about, and a challenge to live sustainably. For today’s Green Minute, we’ve compiled 5 days of our favorite tips and provided you with a link to all of the EMA Green Tips. Enjoy!
Our favorites:
The newest, most-efficient washers use four times less energy than the least-efficient machines, and save up to $70 a year in energy costs.
Recycle toilet paper tubes! The 17 billion toilet paper tubes produced annually in the USA account for 160 million pounds of trash.
Your home appliances account to 20% of energy consumption. Switch to ENERGY STAR products & reduce energy/water by 50%.
Don’t forget your reusable bag. It takes 1000 years for a plastic bag to degrade in a landfill!
An estimated 15% to 30% of a home’s total heating and cooling energy is lost through poorly sealed duct-work, costing consumers about $5 billion annually.
