A living legend in the environmental and literary movement, Wendell Berry gave the following commencement address (video below) at Northern Kentucky University in the Spring of 2009, several months after the global financial collapse.
Calling for a new course in “Homecoming,” he calls upon institutions to learn about “here” the local environment and place.
Berry concludes, “Beyond its benefits for the survival of a good, beautiful and livable world, this work of homecoming has a lot to recommend. It is endlessly interesting, and endlessly productive of decent undamaging pleasure.”
