To help kickoff National Wildlife Refuge Week 2012 (October 14-20), The Green Register is promoting U.S. Fish and Wildlife programs that support the Refuge system. One such program is the Southern Appalachian Creature Feature podcasts.
A broadcast partnership between the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and WNCW, a public radio station broadcasting from Isothermal Community College in Spindale, North Carolina, the “creature feature” is a series of one-minute nature-based stories about emerging issues facing the Southern Appalachians. Topics range from the white-nosed bat syndrome to the local battles to combat invasive plants.
Here are a few of our favorite segments:
Combating Invasive Exotic Plants in the Southern Appalachians. Listen (transcript)
