MastersDegree.net’s Latest Infographic “Oceans of Garbage”

Special to the Green Register – MastersDegree.net has released their latest infographic about the impact garbage is having on the world’s oceans and fish we eat. Some of their stunning facts include:

* The Garbage Patch: It is estimated that the “patch” in the Pacific has more than 3.5 tons of trash spanning an area twice the size of the continental US.

* At least 260 species of fish eat non-biodegradable plastics.

* The Ocean Conservancy has collected over 18 million plastic bottles over the years during their coastal cleanups.

* Plastics in the sea will not breakdown for 600 years.

    well done, thanks. i will share this too to get the word out. this with the new jeremy irons documentary ought to prompt discussions about what to do about it in the presidential campaign (and debates) – but will it even come up?
    sadly, i doubt it.
